Feeding Hernando County and Beyond
Our initiatives to feed the hungry across the globe have boomeranged back to where the idea of the Auroveda Foundation originally blossomed–Hernando County, Florida. We’ve always stood by our belief that no one should ever be denied basic human rights. Because we believe that no one, regardless of socioeconomic status or location, should go hungry, we’ve created a place in the heart of Downtown Brooksville where all are welcome– the Auroveda Food Bank.
We Make It Easy
Our Food Bank was intentionally placed in an area where many individuals and families are in great need of assistance. Our goal is to make every aspect of receiving assistance easy for those who come to us, which is why we have:
- A Convenient Location: You can’t miss our blue building! Located at 410 S. Broad St. in Brooksville.
- An Easy Process: While we encourage individuals to bring a picture I.D., it is not required to receive a food package.
- Minimal Restrictions: Many food banks are restricted to the county they’re in. At Auroveda Food Banks, we don’t just help those in Hernando County! Families from all surrounding counties are welcome. This includes Citrus County, Pasco County, and beyond. We do try to limit one care package per family every week.
- Something for Everybody: Our bags are filled the day before, to make your visit to us as easy as possible. Every family receives a bag of fresh produce, canned vegetables and other non-perishable/shelf-stable items, meat, dairy, and other items that are available, as some deliveries vary per week.
More Than Just Food
Proper nutrition is a great start to a better and healthier you, but getting routine medical care is vital. Many people get easily discouraged at the thought of health insurance or scheduling medical care, but we’re here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be an intimidating process. Our Food Bank does more than just feed people.
Every Friday, from 9am until 12pm, we have agents on-site, ready to educate, check eligibility, and assist with applications for health insurance.
We’re Just Getting Started
To date, we’ve proudly fed over 300 families and we’re just getting started! By providing necessary nutrition and guidance on how to receive the best healthcare possible, Auroveda’s goal is to be known as your primary community resource hub.
